This was absolutely incredible. A throwback LA crime thriller, Crime 101 is expertly directed and written by Bart Layton. Chris Hemsworth brilliantly plays Mike, an overly compulsive thief compelled to do jobs as cleanly as possible. Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and the rest of this stacked cast all deliever incredible performances as well. Even with the runtime being almost 2 and a half hours, every scene feels necessary and nothing is wasted because of Layton's tight script. Being that this is an LA based movie, I thought certain scenes would look familiar to other films shot in the city. But cinematographer Erik Wilson gorgeously shot this film and I can't sing his praises enough. Every shot felt unique yet familiar in the best way possible. Crime 101 is the perfect theatrical movie and I'm so glad I watched it. The trailers for this movie honestly didn't sell me initially, but I'm happy to report that this is an absolute banger.
