Marty Supreme is what you get when you have a locked in director and a locked in lead actor. Timothée Chalamet and Josh Safdie are operating on all-time great levels in this movie. You get the fast, frenetic pace that your used to from Safdie, combined with what I believe is easily the best performance of the year from Chalamet. In a year full of great performances, Timothée Chalamet, like Marty himself, came in clutch at the end of the year and in my opinion, just won best actor at the Oscars. There's a particular scene in this movie that let me know that not only is Chalamet the future, but he is also the now. Outside of his great performance, we also had really good supporting roles all throughout this film. Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion and Tyler the creator in particular were really good. I wouldn't be surprised if Odessa gets a supporting actress nomination for her role. Gorgeously shot with incredible direction, Marty Supreme is ultimately about persistence, and how far one is willing to go on their path to greatness.
