I did not expect to damn near cry watching 28 Years Later but here we are. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland once again change the game with one of the most off the wall and innovative films I've seen all year. Seeing this right after watching 28 Days Later was a treat. I loved the modern take on the amateur and gorilla style way in which this film was shot. I was hesitant after reading that this would be shot on iphones, but after watching it with the visual context of the original movie, the decision to do that made so much sense. Our 3 main leads all did great, but it was Jodie Comer who I feel had a truly special performance. Every emotional beat with Spike, brilliantly played by Alfie Williams, felt like a gut punch in the best way possible. Ralph Fiennes also had a hauntingly heart warming performance. With an ending that will knock you on your ass, I'm super interested to see how they follow up with Nia DaCosta's sequel.
