So I went in wanting to love Fantastic 4, but unfortunately, the disjointed plot and undercooked villains bogs it down a bit. With that said, I still thought the film was comfortably good, just not great. Everyone in the cast killed it, with Vanessa Kirby having the stand out performance as Sue Storm. Visually, the film is a masterpiece. Every image was distinct and had a texture to it that was sorely missed from MCU movies lately. Matt Shakman directed the hell out of this and I thought the score was amazing as well. Overall, Fantastic Four First Steps falls into a lot of the similar trappings of previous mcu films. I still enjoyed my time in the theater however. I just wish there was a little more meat on the bones for Marvel's first family.
