I very much enjoyed Heretic. This was a deeply unsettling descent that interrogates religion, and how iteration and ones belief and disbelief affects said religion. The entire cast knocked it out of the park, but Hugh Grant in particular was sensational in this memorable role. His character's demeanor and calmness made every tense interaction between our three main characters that much more uncomfortable. I also really loved the sound design in this film. Every footstep, key turn, and gear shift had a texture to it and was clearly a point of focus for directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. Heretic also was surprisingly funny at some points. The quick wit from Chloe East and Sophie Thatcher particularly in the first act was a nice counterweight to some of the more intense moments in the film. I did not plan on seeing this one in a theater but I'm glad I did.
