Zach Cregger has done it again. This time he's taking on a franchise that has notorisouly failed in the live action adaptation department. Cregger bucks that trend in glorious fashion. In under two hours, Cregger's Resident Evil is easily the best movie in the franchise, and he does so by doing what others simply failed to do: make a Resident Evil movie. Now of course there's no Leon, Chris, or Claire. But what you get instead is a director that understands how to truly adapt a video game for the big screen. Instead of the series mainstays, we follow original character Bryan, played brilliantly by Austin Abrams. He's a courier that needs to deliver something to Raccoon General, and the journey to get there is as worthy as any Resident Evil story in the series. Whether it was finding ammo, having horrible aim, managing your bullets, and those pesky pad locks, Zach Cregger sprinkles in all the bells and whistles and delivered an excellent Resident Evil movie that I can't wait to see again.
