I did not expect to love Masters of the Universe as much as I did. The story, while rather simple, feels like it couldn't have been told at a better time. With surprisingly good commentary on masculinity and what it means to be a man, Travis Knight absolutely nailed this movie. I particularly loved the table setting this movie does in the beginning. Sometimes with origin films, they could feel a little long in the tooth when establishing the main character and their journey. Travis Knight and co strike a perfect balance that doesn't over stay its welcome in the early stages, and gets us right into the plot with balls to the wall action, amazing visuals, and a banging score by Daniel Pemberton. The dynamic between the characters was another strong point in the film. Between Teela, Man at Arms, and Adam, everyone had solid character arcs that intertwined with each other seamlessly. Nichols Galitzine, Camila Mendes, and the entire cast absolutely killed their respective roles. Love him or hate him, Jared Leto easily had the best performance and was the perfect Skeletor. I really hope this movie is a big success. It's awesome to see a potential major resurgence of He-Man. And with those three post credit scenes, I desperately need to see this franchise continue.
