That was a mixed bag for sure. There's definitely certain sequences that work quite well and on a technical side this film is absolutely gorgeous to look at. But outside of that and an amazing film score, Joker Folie A Deux struggles to justify its existence. The musical numbers mostly didn't work and you could argue that it actively hindered the film. Joaquin turns in a serviceable performance in what was otherwise a pretty lifeless drag throughout its 2 and a half hour runtime. Lady Gaga was also pretty good but her role wasn't substantial enough and leaved a lot more to be desired. Joker Folie A Deux was an experiment that felt like it had to be made based on the success of the original, and ultimately fails to capture the magic of the first film. I will say though, I enjoyed the ending quite a bit. I saw it coming but I still enjoyed the set up and execution of the final scene.
