Darren Aronofsky is back in a big way with this late 90s romp about a man who learns to own up to his past and to stop running from his mistakes. Austin Butler turns in one of his best performances to date in, what has been an insane run for him lately. I also loved how this movie was shot. Seeing a 90s based New York City film shot on location and not on a green screen back lot somewhere in Atlanta felt refreshing. Matthew Libatique continues to add to his legacy as one of the best cinematographers to ever do it. Zoe Kravitz, Matt Smith, Regina King, and the entire supporting cast killed it as well. This film had sharp comedy that mixed perfectly with some of its darker moments. Being that the movie is based on a trilogy of books, I am extremely interested to see how a sequel would play out. Caught Stealing was a blast and definitely worth a watch in theaters.
