Scott Derrickson does it again. Black Phone 2 takes you on an Inception style ride, filled with Derrickson's signature horror flair. Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw both step up in major ways with their performances as well. From the opening minute, you are immediately hooked back into this world. With the stakes set, a reintroduction to the concept with a new twist, and a new location for our characters, Black Phone 2 truly lives up to the hype, and is a worthy sequel. I was curious to see how they would handle the return of Ethan Hawke given the events of the original film. This was handled perfectly, and Hawke delivers another terrifying performance as The Grabber. With the surprising addition of incredible action sequences, and gorgeous cinematography, Black Phone 2 is absolutely worth seeing in theaters.
